Daocaoren (Strawman.) Film (1987) Taiwan, war. Set during Japanese occupation of Taiwan a poor family is suffering after a bad harvest. The mother is deaf and the sister has mental problems since her husband was killed in the war. Her brothers find an unexploded bomb and take it to the Japanese as a gift to the emperor. But the police are scarced of the bomb and they're told to throw it into the sea. The bomb explodes and kills lots of fish which they take home and everyone is grateful for the food.

Taiwan Headlines. Academics launch most comprehensive sign-language book. The world's most comprehensive sign language reference book was launched at the National Science Council (國科會) on Thursday. Led by professors Tai Hau-yi and Jane Tsai, a group of doctoral candidates from the linguistic department of National Chung Cheng University compiled the first "Taiwan Sign Language Reference Grammar" book and pioneered an online TSL digital dictionary.
